Position Overview:
Government Sales is actively involved in selling to the government vertically, including individual customers, bids, and target accounts to secure business and help our clients accomplish their objectives. The individual in this role develops plans based on goals for sales volume, gross profit, and resource needs and has direct responsibility for their performance. This sales position is expected to manage their own forecasting/projections for all government client activity.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree required or 10 years’ experience in contract furniture sales
  • 3 to 5 years of contract furniture experience preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of govt sales experience preferred.
  • Must have understanding of commercial manufacturer products on and off contract.
  • Proven ability to develop complex sales strategies and new business development.
  • Strong collaboration skills are necessary for coordination of large projects using a multi-disciplined team approach.
  • Must have broad exposure and understanding of the government market.
  • Must be detailed oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to negotiate.
  • Strong professional initiative and ability to manage multiple projects with a sense of urgency
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office along with working knowledge of a CRM platform

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute goals to deliver profit and sales for new and existing government clients.
  • Understand key contracts such as GSA, State of Ga and Omnia to secure govt. business.
  • Develop a sales strategy for new and existing accounts to create and/or increase market share.
  • Provide insight into new trends and modes of work that will make a case for change or help customers realize a need (i.e., demand creation)
  • Develop strategy for assigned accounts to achieve volume goals through the development and maintenance of long-term relationships with select customers, ensuring long-term customer satisfaction.
  • Successfully engage clients, understand their business needs, develop solutions, and sell products and services.
  • Use lead generation sources/techniques to help secure opportunities in the market.
  • Manage Customer Relationship Management (CRM) information in CORE to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
  • Participate in weekly sales meetings and project meetings as needed.
  • Maintain relationship with government team members and contract compliance for each project/client as deemed necessary.
  • Expand professional network and CE presence through active participation with industry groups.
  • Other duties in support of business development and sales.
