Focus People is looking for an Entry Accounting Clerk to join our clients team for an estimated duration of 3-4 months.

As an Entry Accounting Clerk, you’ll receive an hourly pay rate of $18.00 and work 40 hours a week, Monday to Thursday (8am-5:30pm with an hour lunch) and Friday (8am-12pm with no lunch break). This role is 100% onsite in Cartersville, GA.

As an Entry Accounting Clerk, you’ll be responsible for providing quality support to students, faculty, and staff of the college’s business office. Your major duties will include assisting with the daily operations of the business/accounting office, maintaining a professional perspective, and employee confidentiality.

You’ll also interact with college employees, students, board members, or outside contacts to provide information, solve routine problems, or otherwise respond to requests. Additionally, you’ll provide customer service for all students, parents, faulty, staff, and visitors, act as an interface liaison between students and the bursar officers, and maintain front desk duties for business office operations.

We’ll need you to utilize the Banner system to monitor and adjust student accounts in accordance with the Board of Regents policies and procedures regarding tuition, fees, and other various charges. You’ll also perform accounts receivable transactions, such as receipting all payments into Banner and preparing the daily bank deposit, process and disburse manual refunds and petty cash requests for students, faculty, and staff.

In this role, you’ll reconcile multiple systems through the running of reports and make notes of any discrepancy for student accounts manager and bursar to investigate. You’ll also provide assistance to Accounts Receivable during high peak times such as phone calls to students and monitoring payment plan adjustments. This role is designed by the institution as a Position of Trust.

The ideal candidate should have knowledge of basic accounting principles, computers, equipment, and job-related software programs. We’re also looking for someone who can make timely decisions, has strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, and can communicate well in both oral and written forms.

In terms of supervision, the Student Accounts Manager assigns work in terms of general instructions, and the supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

This position has no direct reports, and the work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching, or lifting light objects. The work is typically performed in an office environment.

The minimum qualifications for this role include completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. You should have sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Previous experience cash handling is preferred.
